Born : 1978
Her work explores the inherently conformist nature of human society in deeper detail. What she observes around her and makes others see, feel and question is sour preconditioned psychology and social construct especially pertaining to women. We are all voyeurs and subconsciously enjoy looking at another person intimately with impunity and feel this has the power to draw the viewer to have a pure emotional reaction and leave a strong visual imprint. Shiffali use symbolic metaphors in a contemporary context to tell the story of life and work mostly in thin layers and glazes of oil and acrylics on linen till the achievement of the desired effect. Besides paintings she often works in other mediums of sculptures and conceptual art. Her marble like sculpture in fiberglass best brings out the poetry of her oeuvre whereas the dark tones and visual weight of her bronzes occasionally belie their tender character.
