Description
Womb of Creation | Textile (Pashmina), Wooden Loom Frame | H 48 x W 48 x D 1 inches
In Womb of Creation, Babar Afzal transforms the hair of the Himalayan Pashmina goat into a meditation on origin and emergence. At the center, a deep dark void suggests not emptiness, but gestation, a primordial space where life gathers before form. Encircling it, molten reds and embers surge outward in a circular motion, evoking both embryo and eclipse, seed and supernova.
Use of luxury Pashmina fiber is deeply intentional. Born in the extremities of the Himalayas, the material carries within it a narrative of survival and resilience. Here, it becomes both medium and message, the ecology of the mountains rendered as abstract cosmology.
Balancing intimacy with vastness, Womb of Creation invites contemplation on the unseen forces that shape life, from the womb of a mother to the birth of a star.
