Back in West Bengal, ‘Durga’ is not only a Goddes but she is praised as a married bengali girl visiting her paternal home during autumn months.
Welcomed as a daughter, worshipped as a mother, prayed as a Goddess. My engagements with durga puja is something beyond traditional idol making.
The amalgamation of positive and negative moulds, pieces of industrial screws and metal sheets come together to preach the ordinary women, their everyday journey, the struggle and strength. Durga here is not only divine, she holds the smallest bits of stories imprinted on her face, she’s a symbol, created out of the feminine energy that every women carries within.
