Description

Gautam Das | Home Within | Stoneware | 9 x 9 inches | 2023 (Delivered)

This sculpture presents a beautifully composed architectural abstraction that evokes a sense of structure, rhythm, and symbolism. Created in stoneware, it features geometric elements like staircases, windows, grids, and textured surfaces that harmoniously blend together to form a poetic visual language. The artist plays with texture and relief—using lines, perforations, and engraved script-like markings—to suggest layers of memory, history, and communication embedded within the walls of time. The muted tones and earthy finish lend the piece a timeless, meditative quality, while the interplay of light and shadow enhances its depth and dimensionality. The work seems to explore the relationship between built space and human emotion—how architecture can hold stories, silences, and traces of existence. Thoughtful and minimal, it reflects an inner dialogue between form and feeling, where every carved line whispers a quiet narrative of home, belonging, and contemplation.
