Description

Barun Pramanick | Book | Bronze | H 9 x W 14 x D 2.5 inches | 2021

This bronze sculpture, titled Book (2021) by Barun Pramanick, is a compelling fusion of narrative, history, and materiality. Designed in the form of an open book, its pages are adorned with embossed reliefs depicting human figures and mythic scenes, suggesting timeless stories of culture, folklore, and memory. The spiral spine at the center adds to its realism, while a patinated bookmark, sculpted with miniature details, dangles across the pages, reinforcing the sense of continuity between past and present. The use of bronze lends permanence to what is usually fragile and temporal, making the book a symbol of enduring knowledge, tradition, and human experience.
