This bronze sculpture, titled A Black Shadow (2021) by Barun Pramanick, is a powerful visual metaphor of struggle and endurance. It portrays a tall, lean figure walking with a staff, evoking resilience and determination, while behind him, a cylindrical form is being dragged and surrounded by smaller, writhing human-like figures. The contrast between the solitary walker and the chaotic mass symbolizes the weight of burdens, both personal and collective, that follow humanity like a shadow. Barun graduated with a 1st CLASS, in B.V.A, Rabindra Bharati University (2004). Over the years he has participated in several group shows in India like in Kolkata, New Delhi, and Mumbai.
