Description
Jauhar Das Gupta | Untitled | Mixed Media on Paper | 19.4 x 29.1 inches | 2026
Jahar Das Gupta’s distinctive engagement with nature, the human figure, imagination and the visual memory of Bengal. Rather than treating the natural world as a passive backdrop, Das Gupta transforms it into an active psychological and poetic space, where figures, birds, foliage and organic forms appear to exist in a state of quiet transformation.
Das Gupta’s imagery often moves between reality and fantasy, creating what has been described as a transformation of reality through an atmosphere of imagination. His subjects have included women, animals, birds and nature, frequently rendered through monochromatic drawings as well as vibrant acrylic paintings.
