Artist Viveek Sharma grew up in Allahabad with its sadhus and witnessed many Kumbh Melas, where people come, from all over India and the world, to seek answers to these questions (Why are we on earth?) and make some sense of our existence, our frail humanity and its little joys and woes.

Style :

Viveek Sharma may be considered one of India’s greatest artists for, even from a young age; his work was powerful and exquisite. Highly skilled at his craft, he takes great care to create one more shadow, one subtle variation, for beautiful, astounding effects. his paintings may be seen again and again, with new rewarding discoveries : fine shades in a face, human skin, exquisitely done strands of hair and expert realism as when he juxtaposes a ‘Sadhu’ next to granite temples. The temples look exactly as they are, under shadow or with Sunlight on their ancient stones. Sharma shows the world of spirit, slowly.

Sharma’s work uses realism and pointillism but in a very unusual way with myriad colours, soft, larger dots, possibly hundreds, over a tiny area. While his art is visually stunning, its real reach is emotional and spiritual. Anyone from any faith on a spiritual quest will notice the stories and understand the experiences depicted in this great powerful body of work. He said, “without years, without time, without patience to achieve perfection, you may just come and go”.
