Image of One's Own Self

Ever since the emergency of the individual artist the projection of the artist's self in creation, had increasingly gained in priority. An ultimate form of such prioritization had let to rise of the genre of self – portrait. In recent years self portraiture has been undergoing quite metamorphoses. As a result the use of the old term is becoming misleading for the new art. It is more accurate to use the term 'self image' or the 'artist's self image' with regard to what the artists of your generation are doing. The term also is relatively open ended.
We have been appreciatively observing that, for sometime now, the presentation of the likeness has been a visualinguistic devise to project the creative concerns of some artists . Many of their contemporaries are similarly projecting there individual artistic concern by responding there likeness. We have at the same time, observed that among the participates of the generation. viz. artists self image, the modes of representation of self likeness differ considerably, Leading to a wide verity of products . However, it is not the perceptible variety which interests us, by itself. We get more engaged with the work of the individual artist when we discover in there individual mode of representation significant pioneers to the deeper artistic concerns, of each of them.
It interests us immensely to bring the work of some of the more significant practitioners of the contemporary genre of artist's self image , to see : one , in what respect there 'self image' differ significantly from there earlier 'self portraits'. And secondly how do there individually varying modes of representation signify difference in individual creative concern . There is also a sub- text of our aforementioned intentions. We would like to induce a closer intra- and there – texture reading of visual text, by offering apparently similar but actually different text, for greater appreciation of the visual in visual art.
